There's something about walking across the same campus you've called home for four years, camera in hand, knowing this is one of the last times you'll see it through this particular lens. Seniors photos aren't just a checklist item, they're a marker. A way of saying  I was here, and I became someone here.

If you're a University of North Texas senior getting ready to capture that milestone, Denton has no shortage of  beautiful, meaningful backdrops. Here's my guide to the best spots on and around campus, so your session tells the whole story of your journey, not just the highlight reel.

On Campus: Where Your Story Started

The Eagle Statue

This one is non-negotiable. The bronze eagle near the Union is the most recognizable landmark on campus, and it's a photo you'll want printed and framed one day. Golden hour gives it a warm, timeless glow that makes the moment bigger than just a sign photo.

Library Mall

This arch create a classic editorial backdrop, and the way the light filters through the trees during the day is genuinely dreamy. If  you're bringing multiple outfits, this is a great spot for a something polished. Think of a dress or a tailored look that plays well against the architecture.

The Gazebo

Centered in the heart of campus, the Gazebo is perfect for movement and multiple poses; leaning on the pillar, sitting on the bench, walking through mid-laughter. Pair it with the long rectangular fountains nearby, and remember to angle yourself so the fountain adds depth to the frame instead of disappearing behind you

The Clock Tower

Easy to overlook and hard to forget once you see it in a photograph. Position yourself on the opposite side of the Quad fountains, facing the tower, for a shot that feels distinctly UNT.

The Admin Building

Classic UNT architecture, through and through. If you want a portrait that feels like it could have been taken any decade in the last fifty years, that quiet and timeless quality, this is where you'll find it.

Welcome Center

From being a incoming freshman to being a senior, the Welcome Center has been a vital part of your college experience. This location was the beginning of all the memories you created during your time at UNT!

Around Denton:  Where Your Story Grew

Not every senior wants a fully campus-centric session and that's okay. Some of your most meaningful years happened off campus too. Coffee runs before class, weekends on the Square, the walk down Hickory Street a hundred times over, and many more!

Fry Street & the Downtown Square

The murals scattered through this area, from the Mean Green Texas flag to the ever-changing graffiti nook near Voertman's, give your session color, texture, and a sense of place that's unmistakably Denton. It's the backdrop of your college life outside the classroom.

Little Chapel in the Woods

If you're after something quieter and more elegant, dimly let, stain glass windows, and contains finely architectural details, then this chapel creates a beautifully reflective mood. A nice contrast to the bright, energetic campus shot from Texas Women's University.

Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center

For a softer, more natural feel, this spot is full of open meadows and gentle color, especially in the spring and fall. It's a great choice if you want your senior photos to feel  less "campus checklist" and more like a quiet chapter closing.

Ray Roberts Greenbelt Trailhead

A little further out just past Aubrey, about 20 minutes from campus. It's worth it if you love deep greens, shaded trails, and a more editorial forward feeling session.

A Few Things to Keeping in Mind

  • Timing and lighting goes hand-in-hand. If you are wanting a soft feel with your photos, aim for the morning. If you are wanting a Golden hour look, schedule your session in the evening time.
  • Bring two or three outfit options. One polished look, one that feels like you day-to-day, and maybe one that leans into UNT green if you want that school spirit shot.
  • Popular spots get busy. The Eagle statue and the Gazebo are well-loved for a reason, so it helps to know your poses and angles ahead of time so the session flows smoothly.
  • Think about the story, not just the setting. The best senior sessions aren’t a list of pretty backdrops, they’re a reflection of the years that got you here.

Ready to Capture this Chapter?

Four years of early mornings, late nights, and everything in between led you to this moment. Your senior photos should feel like more than a formality, they should feel like you at the edge of something new.

If you’re a UNT senior looking to document this milestone with photos that feel timeless, story-driven, and genuinely yours, I’d love to be part of that. Let’s talk about your session.
